Timber roof frame of a house extension, before the roof covering goes on
Roof installation

Roof installation
in Cork.

A new roof for an extension, a new build or a re-roof, built layer by layer by our own crews and guaranteed in writing.

01 / About this service

The importance of a quality roof installation

A new roof is only as good as what is under the covering. The membrane, the battens, the lead and the ventilation decide whether it stays dry for decades, and none of them can be seen once the slates or tiles are on. We build those layers first and photograph them, so you can see what is under your roof after the scaffold has gone.

In Cork's wet, windy climate the details matter more than the material. We fit breathable membrane and treated battens to BS 5534, lead at every chimney, wall and valley, and a mechanical dry-fix ridge and verge in place of mortar that cracks. On an exposed site, closer fixings along the eaves and edges are part of the specification, not an extra.

Whether the job is a roof over a new extension, a new house, or a complete re-roof, the process is the same: survey, fixed written price, our own crews, tidy hand-back and a written guarantee.

02 / Options

Selecting the right roof material for Cork.

Natural slate

Long-lived and finished-looking, and right for older houses and homes that want the best. Priced in the table below.

Concrete tile

Practical, sensible value and suited to most houses and estates.

Flat systems

EPDM or GRP laid to a fall for extensions, garages and dormers. Priced per square metre.

Roof windows

Fitted into slate or tile with the right flashing kit, so the opening is as watertight as the roof around it.

Ventilation

Eaves and ridge ventilation so the new timbers can dry and the attic does not sweat.

Re-roofing around chimneys

New lead and flashings where the roof meets the stack, never a smear of sealant.

06 / FAQ

Questions, answered.

How much does a new roof cost in Cork?

As a 2026 guide, a concrete tile roof is €8,000–€18,000 and a complete slate roof €12,000–€28,000+. A flat roof is €90–€140 per m². The fixed price follows a free survey.

Can you roof an extension?

Yes. Pitched or flat, we build the roof, the upstands and the flashing against the main house so the joint stays dry.

How long does a roof installation take?

A concrete tile roof is typically 4 to 10 days and a slate roof 5 to 14 days. A flat roof is typically 2 to 5 days.

Which material is best?

It depends on the house, the pitch, the exposure and the budget. We advise in writing after a survey, and we say so if a cheaper material will do the job.

What guarantee comes with a new roof?

A written 10-year workmanship guarantee on the installation. A complete roof replacement also carries the Lifetime Leak Guarantee.

Is VAT included?

VAT is added at 13.5% on residential work. The written quote shows it.
